Access to Some Classics: Joey Bada$$ 1999 Re-Release

"Sorry I kept ya'll waitin' 1999 'til forever. The Era. No Better," says Joey at the end of the first track of 1999.

Fans have definitely been waiting to be able to stream 1999 on music platforms for 6 years.

On June 12, Joey Bada$$ re-released his first album 1999 on all streaming platforms. 1999 features Pro Era Members: Chuck Strangers, CJ Fly, Nyck Caution, Kirk Knight, and late Capital Steez. Just to name a few.

The album was first released in 2012, but was only available for hard copy and not digital.

1999 expresses raw, East Coast, Rap and Hip-Hop. It's catchy beats allow the lyrics to flow easily on. The second track, "Waves," is a perfect example of that. It will have you nodding your head to the soft Jazz like beat. Recently, it was used by J. Cole in 2016 for "False Prophets."

On that same track from its original release, Joey raps about making it big, attracting a better life and future. He starts out with saying his mom was working 9 to 5 jobs to make ends meet. In the second verse he raps that he's not going to stop until he buys his mom a Rover and makes it as a known rapper.

Joey touches base on corrupted politicans and telling listeners to be aware of what's happening in the world on "Survival Tactics" ft. Captial Steez.

On "Daily Routine," he speaks about coming up in the Rap game and shooting for his dreams as an artist with Pro Era. Joey raps, "So I'm shootin' for my dreams hit the booth and it boost my self esteem."

The Pro Era crew ends the album with "Third Eye Sh*t," coming all together to sing the hook. The eleven minute, 10 verse song includes each member rapping a part. This concludes the album perfectly since they strived for this dream to make it big together.

By listening to 1999 again, you are able to hear the growth from when Joey first started in his career to now. His lyrics still hold meaning behind them and are based on what he feels strongly about, but he's evolved into a greater artist since.

Now his fans can experience his classics daily and appreciate it being digital.
